Description:

When Eva Diakou is offered a job on the Winterwood estate she expects nothing but four months of back breaking work. Jobless and lonely she has little choice but to accept, and is resolved to do everything she can to make a go of it.

But things on the Winterwood estate are nothing like Eva was led to believe. Why has she been given one of the plushest rooms? Why is there nothing to do? And why is she so captivated by the strange statues adorning the estate?

Adam Winterwood is paying for a crime that was not his. Trapped for so many years he is waiting for the one person who can keep him alive... or set him free.

When Adam and Eva meet sparks the likes of which neither have ever known fly. Wrapped in one another they are unaware of the sacrifice they will both have to make. A sacrifice that will bring an end to a centuries old curse or an end to one of them.

And it will all be decided by the kiss...

Annie’s Review:

I need to start out by saying that it’s been ages since I’ve read a romance book. The blurb for The Kiss interested me because the subgenre is supernatural.

I found that I really enjoyed this book. I liked the character Eve right away. Maybe it’s because I’ve been single, unemployed, and not sure where the next month’s rent was going to come from. Giving up four months for a nice pay-off is a no-brainer.

I thought this book was an easy read and was a little disappointed when it ended. Ms Shortt did a wonderful job of describing the characters and allowed the plot to unfurl and then with a kiss it was over.

As I said I don’t normally read romance books and those that I did read didn’t involve a lot of sex. I would have liked more dialog and less sex. This was very good story and could be even better with a little more (vertical) interaction between the characters.
